Nahan Himachal Road Trip Real Travel Experience

Delhi to Nahan in Just 4 Hours – The Real Experience of Nahan Himachal Road Trip
✨ Attractive Beginning (18-Apr-2026)
Sometimes a journey is not only a way to reach the destination, but it becomes a beautiful story itself. Our Nahan Himachal road trip was also one such story. When we left behind the crowd, traffic, and busy life of Delhi in search of peaceful mountains, we found the very beautiful and calm hill station of Himachal Pradesh – Nahan.
This place is nothing less than heaven for people who want peace in the mountains but are now tired of crowded hill stations.
🚗 Beautiful Journey from Delhi to Nahan
Our road trip started from Ambala. The distance from Ambala to Nahan is around 64 kilometers and it takes about one and a quarter hours to reach there. From Delhi to Nahan, the distance is around 4 hours.
If you live in Delhi, Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal, or Kurukshetra, then there is no need to come to Ambala. By taking a right turn from Shahabad, you can directly reach this amazing route.
The road was so good that we did not even realize how the journey kept moving ahead. Wide highway, greenery on both sides, and completely smooth roads. On the way, there is around a 20-kilometer green belt area of Punjab where you can see farms and trees all around.
🌿 A Peaceful Hill Station Away from Crowd
Nowadays places like Mussoorie, Dhanaulti, and other hill stations have become so crowded that even after reaching there, people do not feel relaxed. After the opening of the Delhi–Dehradun Expressway, traffic has increased even more there. But Nahan is still peaceful.
That was the main reason why this trip won our hearts. There was no traffic jam, no crowd, and no noise here. Most of the vehicles on the road were only of local people.
🛣️ Amazing Highway from Shahzadpur to Kala Amb
After reaching Shahzadpur, we said goodbye to the Paonta Sahib–Dehradun–Rishikesh highway and moved ahead on the Ambala–Kala Amb highway. It is a very good 6-lane highway where you can comfortably drive at a speed of 100 kilometers per hour. However, cameras are installed here, so it is important to follow the speed limit.
The one-side toll for the car was ₹55 and the return toll was ₹85.
As soon as we reached Narayangarh, mountains started appearing in the distance. That was the moment when we felt that the real mountain journey had started.
🏔️ Entering Himachal Pradesh and the Changing Views
As soon as we reached Kala Amb, Himachal Pradesh started. Here, four-wheelers have to pay a toll of ₹30, while no toll is charged from two-wheelers.
Within just one kilometer, the entire view had changed. Instead of plains, mountains, cool air, and green valleys started appearing.
This part of Himachal was so peaceful that at every turn, we felt like stopping the car and just watching nature. The roads were excellent and there was no damage anywhere. Throughout the journey, you can comfortably drive at a speed of 50 to 60.
🌲 Nahan – Where Peace is Still Alive
The most special thing about Nahan is its peace. Very few tourists come here, so this place still feels very natural and well preserved.
The height of Nahan is said to be around 360 feet, and as soon as we reached here, we started feeling slight cool weather.
After reaching here, the first place we visited was the most famous place of Nahan – Rani Tal. It is a beautiful man-made lake built by the British in 1889 and is also called Pakka Talab.
Around the lake, there were colorful flowers, deodar trees, and a very peaceful atmosphere. There is also an ancient Shiva temple here which is said to be around 200 years old.
🍛 Local Experience of Nahan
Because there are fewer tourists in Nahan, mostly local people are seen walking in parks and markets here. This is the thing that makes this place feel more real and original.
Near the bus stand, we found some small food options. In one hotel, we got a thali for ₹120.
If we talk about staying options, hotels and guest houses from ₹500 to ₹1500 are easily available here.
The whole trip was completed in a very low budget of just ₹500-₹600, and all the videos were recorded using a basic phone.
🛕 Peaceful Experience at Jagannath Temple
After this, we reached the ancient Jagannath Temple of Nahan. The temple is built in the middle of a crowded market and is a major center of faith for local people.
Because it was afternoon time, the temple was closed, but on the request of the priest, we got a chance to go inside. The peaceful temple campus and the atmosphere there gave great peace to the heart.
📌 Places to Visit Around Nahan
Nahan is just the beginning. There are many more amazing places ahead like:
- Jaitak Fort
- Renuka Lake
- Bala Sundari Temple
- Trilokinath Temple
- Shivalik Fossil Park (Suketi Fossil Park)
However, to visit these places, you need a little more time.
💡 Lesson Learned from the Journey
This journey definitely taught one thing that not every beautiful place needs to be famous. Many times, places with less crowd give the most peace.
Nahan is a perfect hill station for people who want a peaceful environment, good roads, greenery, and a real mountain experience with family.
🧳 Conclusion
If you live around Delhi or Haryana and are searching for a place where you can get an amazing road trip, peaceful mountains, beautiful valleys, and a traffic-free hill station in a low budget, then you should definitely visit Nahan.
This place may not be very famous on the big tourist map, but the peace and beauty here will stay in your memories for a long time.
