Mahabaleshwar Trip: 3 Memorable Days in Nature

🌿 Mahabaleshwar Trip: Three Memorable Days Among Clouds, Waterfalls and Peaceful Valleys
✨ A Beginning Full of Emotions
Mahabaleshwar, located in Satara district of Maharashtra, is not just a hill station, but a feeling where the mind slowly starts moving away from the busy city life as soon as you arrive here. The cool air here touches the face and seems to take away all the tiredness with it. The greenery spread across the roads, cloud-covered mountains, sound of waterfalls, and the long Sahyadri valleys make every moment feel special.
This journey was not only about travelling, but also about spending some peaceful time with ourselves. In this two nights and three days trip to Mahabaleshwar, every day gave something new to see and feel. Sometimes it felt like getting lost in the fog between the mountains, and sometimes sitting near the waterfalls made the mind feel completely calm.
1. 🚍 Journey to Mahabaleshwar and the First View
There are many transport options available to reach Mahabaleshwar. After reaching the bus stand from Satara Railway Station, buses for Mahabaleshwar are available every one hour. AC and Non-AC buses are also available from Swargate Bus Stand in Pune. Parking facilities are also available for people coming by private vehicle.
As soon as you reach Mahabaleshwar, the first thing you feel is the air here. A different kind of coolness mixed with mountain moisture and the fragrance of forests. The main market area near the bus stand looks quite active, but even in between that, a peaceful feeling remains.
Our stay was at Hotel President. The charge for a double bed occupancy room was ₹1200 per day. Since the hotel was close to the bus stand and market, travelling around also became easy.
2. 🚖 The Mahabaleshwar Journey Started with Taxi
If you come here by public transport, then taxi becomes the biggest support for sightseeing. Scooty or bike rental service is not available here, and there is no auto service as well. Tours can be booked from the Taxi Association located in front of the bus stand. Since every tour has a fixed price, the journey feels comfortable and trouble-free.
We booked Tour One and Tour Two together for Day One, which cost ₹1320. It included places like Old Mahabaleshwar, Kate’s Point, and Lingmala Waterfall.
3. 🛕 Peaceful Morning at Old Mahabaleshwar
The first day started with Old Mahabaleshwar. Located around 6 kilometers from Mahabaleshwar, this place is known for its old temples and peaceful atmosphere. As soon as we reached here, it felt like time had slowed down a little. The peace around the temples and the cool air were giving a lot of relaxation to the mind.
First, we visited Atibaleshwar Temple. It is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. After that, we reached Mahabaleshwar Temple, after which this city got its name. The atmosphere of this nearly 800-year-old temple felt extremely peaceful. The faith of people towards the self-originated Shivling inside the temple could be clearly seen.
A little distance away is Panchganga Temple. It is believed that five rivers – Krishna, Venna, Koyna, Gayatri, and Savitri – originate and meet here. The water flowing from the mouth of Nandi inside the temple is considered very sacred by people. Standing there and listening to the slow sound of water was itself a very peaceful experience.
4. 🍓 Bagicha Corner and the Sweetness of Strawberries
After visiting Old Mahabaleshwar, we reached Bagicha Corner. The Green House Strawberry Farm is located here. At that time, it was not strawberry season, but from December to March, fresh strawberries can be seen here.
We sat in a small café here and tried corn pakoras and mulberry with cream. Eating hot snacks in hill station weather has a different kind of enjoyment. The greenery around and the light cool breeze were making even this small break memorable.
5. 🌄 Kate’s Point and Views Lost Between the Clouds
After that, the journey took us to Kate’s Point and Needle Hole View Point. Located around 20 minutes from Mahabaleshwar main city, this place is famous for its amazing views. As soon as we reached there, the valleys spread in front and the waterfall visible at a distance looked like a painting had come alive in front of the eyes.
From Needle Hole View Point, the rock in front looks like an elephant’s head and a hole of a needle. The view seen after reaching the top stays in memory for a long time. The waterfall falling between the mountains, the fog spread around it, and the greenery together looked so beautiful that sitting there silently and watching the view for some time itself felt enough.
From Kate’s Point, the view of Sahyadri Mountain Range, Dhom Dam, villages, and Krishna River can be seen. The air felt so clean that even the mountains spread far away looked very close.
6. 💦 Magical Experience at Lingmala Waterfall
If there was one place in this Mahabaleshwar trip that impressed the most, it was Lingmala Waterfall. There was an entry ticket of ₹25 to reach here, and after that, around 1 kilometer had to be walked downhill. Throughout the path, greenery and the sound of the waterfall could be heard continuously.
After reaching the base point and then the top view point, the view seen there is difficult to describe completely in words. Water falling from a height of nearly 500 feet and the mist created from it makes the whole atmosphere look like a movie scene.
Standing there and just listening to the sound of falling water was itself a different feeling. Small stalls nearby were selling hot Maggi and roasted corn. The cold breeze and the waterfall view in front were making this moment even more beautiful.
7. 🏞️ Peacefulness of Plateau Point
After Lingmala Waterfall, we reached Plateau Point. To reach here, around a 10-minute trek has to be done from near Ganesh Temple. As soon as you reach the top, a peaceful and almost empty place can be seen.
This flat mountain feels quite different. The natural “King Chair” present here is worth seeing. The best thing here was the silence. No heavy crowd, no noise. Only the sound of wind and mountains spread far away.
8. 🌫️ Fog-Filled Sky at Wilson Point
In the evening, we reached Wilson Point. At that time, the whole weather was covered with fog. Not much could be seen in front, but that same fog was making this place look even more mysterious.
It is said that during clear weather, a 360-degree view of Mahabaleshwar can be seen from here. But on that day, even the cloud-covered sky was looking extremely beautiful in its own way.
9. 🌤️ Beginning of Day Two and Journey to Panchgani
On the second day, after breakfast, the journey started towards Panchgani. The roads passing through the mountains and the cool breeze were making the journey feel very relaxing.
First, we reached Hollywood Wax Museum Entertainment Park. In the combined ticket of ₹600, aquarium, wax museum, and 9D cinema were included.
In the aquarium, many different types of fishes were seen. After that, in the wax museum, statues of famous celebrities and politicians were seen.
10. 🌿 Parsi Point and the Peaceful Mountain View
After that, we reached Parsi Point. From here, the view of the Krishna River flowing below and the mountains spread far away looked very beautiful. The greenery of the fields and the calm flow of the river together were creating such a scene that could simply be watched quietly while sitting there.
11. 🐎 Table Land and Raindrops
The most iconic place in Panchgani, Table Land, truly gives a very different experience. Standing on the second largest mountain plateau in Asia, only open sky and mountains can be seen all around.
Light rain and strong wind were making that moment even more special. Going inside the Tiger Caves here also felt very exciting. Inside, it was almost dark, and walking between the small amount of light felt like an adventure.
12. 🍫 Sweetness of Mapro Garden
After Table Land, we reached Mapro Garden. As soon as we arrived here, the whole atmosphere felt fresh and refreshing. Everywhere there was greenery, flowers, and the fragrance of strawberries spread in the air.
Here, strawberry chocolates, syrups, jams, and many products can be tasted and purchased. Sitting in the café and trying strawberries with cream was also a very good experience.
13. 🚣 Evening at Venna Lake
We covered Venna Lake on Day Two, which was missed on Day One. The atmosphere here feels very lively. Because of boating, horse riding, and street food, this place always remains full of activity.
While walking around the lake, the soft reflection of lights on the water and the cool breeze felt very relaxing. The strawberries and street food here also attract many people.
14. 🛍️ The Movement of Mahabaleshwar Market
The market of Mahabaleshwar is not very big, but roaming here has its own different enjoyment. Small shops here sell everything from food items to clothes. During the evening, the movement of people and the cool air together create a pleasant atmosphere.
15. 🏰 Historical Journey to Pratapgad Fort
On the third day, we started towards Pratapgad Fort. The taxi charge was ₹1200, and throughout the journey, the road views were extremely beautiful. Small waterfalls at many places and roads passing between the mountains were making the journey memorable.
Located around 20 kilometers away, Pratapgad Fort is a very special place connected with history. Built at a height, this fort feels very impressive. Reaching here and listening to historical stories related to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj also felt interesting.
Here, we also got a chance to try authentic Maharashtrian food Zunka Bhakar, which made this journey even more memorable.
