🌄 Gangtok Local Sightseeing: A Beautiful Day Between Waterfalls, Monasteries and Mountains

✨ A Beginning Full of Emotions (17-May-2026)

The cold morning air, peaceful atmosphere spread between the mountains, and the slowly waking city on the roads of Gangtok… there was a different kind of peace in that morning. It felt like the whole day was carrying a new story inside it. We booked a taxi from the hotel and started exploring the local points of Gangtok. There was excitement in the mind that what all Gangtok was going to show us in just one day.

The curved mountain roads, greenery visible on the way, and the cool breeze were slowly making this journey not just a trip but a part of beautiful memories.

1. 🚕 Beginning of Gangtok Local Sightseeing

A taxi was booked from the hotel and we were told a charge of ₹1000 per head for local sightseeing from our hotel. We got a Wagon R and with that we explored different spots of Gangtok for the whole day.

2. 🌊 Banjhakri Waterfall and Energy Park – Between Greenery and the Sound of Water

Our first spot was Banjhakri Waterfalls and Energy Park. As soon as we reached there, the first thing we saw was the ticket counter. There was a huge crowd because it was season time and many tourists had come for wandering. One important thing here was that only online payment was accepted. So keeping UPI and card ready was necessary. Ticket for adults was ₹100. There was no charge for blogging camera.

As soon as we entered inside, it felt like the noise of the city suddenly stayed far behind. Everywhere there was lush greenery, peaceful walking paths, and the sound of flowing waterfall… the whole atmosphere was very relaxing. This place felt special not only because of the waterfall but also because of its cultural theme. Here, local culture and folk stories of Sikkim were beautifully shown.

There were also adventure activities near the waterfall. Tyre bridge, a small Lakshman Jhula, and zip line were attracting people a lot. Wearing local dress and clicking photos was also a different fun experience. We also tried local dress by paying ₹100 and clicked some beautiful pictures.

Inside the park there were gazebos for sitting, a boating club, a big playing area for children, and greenery spread everywhere, making it a perfect place for families. The atmosphere here was so good that honestly we did not feel like leaving the place.

While coming outside, there was also a clean restaurant and a souvenir shop. We bought a fridge magnet for ₹80 which became a small but lovely memory of this journey.

3. 🚡 Gangtok Ropeway – Feeling Like Flying Above Clouds and the City

The next spot was Gangtok Ropeway. Here the ticket for two-way journey was ₹253. After going up through the lift, as soon as the cable car started moving, the whole city of Gangtok slowly started spreading below us. Colorful buildings, mountains, and views visible between the clouds looked like a postcard scene.

The most exciting moment was when another cable car crossed from the front side. The feeling at that time is really difficult to explain in words. At the drop point many tourists were getting down, but we decided to return in the same cable car so that we could once again enjoy that beautiful aerial view.

4. 🌸 Flower Exhibition Center – A World Full of Colors and Fragrance

After visiting the monastery, we reached the Flower Exhibition Center. Here also only online payment was being accepted. The ticket was ₹350 and the complete experience inside was said to be around half an hour.

As soon as we entered inside, the culture, tribes, and traditional lifestyle of Sikkim were displayed very beautifully. But the most attractive thing was the colorful orchids. Everywhere there were orchids of different colors and shapes, making the whole atmosphere very vibrant.

One very interesting thing to see here was that six special orchids of Sikkim were dedicated in the names of Amitabh Bachchan, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Narendra Modi, Shah Rukh Khan, Dalai Lama, and Jackie Chan.

Because of the mirror effect in the orchid section, it felt like the flowers were spread endlessly. Orchids hanging above, their reflection below, and beauty of colors everywhere… this place truly felt very special for photography and videos.

Every section here was designed very thoughtfully. Somewhere there was a white marble elephant sculpture, somewhere mannequins wearing floral dresses, and somewhere artificial waterfalls. Everywhere there was a beautiful combination of nature and art.

5. 🕉️ Chorten Monastery – A Spiritual Pause Full of Peace

After this we reached Chorten Monastery. As soon as we entered inside, the whole atmosphere felt very peaceful. Completely different from the rush of the city, this place was slowly calming the mind.

In the middle of the monastery there was a white stupa and around it colorful prayer flags were waving in the air. People were rotating the prayer wheels in clockwise direction. The atmosphere there was so peaceful that for some time we just felt like sitting there quietly without speaking anything.

6. 🌿 Plant Conservatory – Some Peaceful Moments Between Greenery

It was becoming evening when we reached the Plant Conservatory. The ticket was ₹30 but the closing time was very near, so we could not explore much. Still, whatever we saw was very peaceful and relaxing.

The walking trail made between tall trees, greenery spread all around, and only the sound of birds… the atmosphere there was completely different from the noise of the city. Sitting there for some time between the cool air and nature felt very relaxing.

7. ☕ Ganesh Tok – Tea, Maggi and the Real Taste of Mountains

By the time we reached Ganesh Tok, the cold had increased a lot and we were also feeling hungry. On the way, the smell of cardamom tea was coming from a small roadside stall. In that cold weather, that fragrance was truly enough to stop anyone.

We stopped there and ordered masala Maggi and tea. A small cardamom tea was ₹30. Cold air, mountain roads, and hot Maggi… at that moment even that simple food felt very special. Honestly, the real memories of mountains are probably hidden in these small moments only.

After a little climb, we reached the temple of Lord Ganesha. The peaceful atmosphere there and the view visible from the top were making us forget all the tiredness of the journey.

8. 🌄 Tashi View Point – Mountains Hidden in Clouds

From Tashi View Point, the view of the whole Gangtok and Kanchenjunga range can be seen. That day the weather was a little foggy, but still the atmosphere there looked very beautiful. To reach the top, we had to climb many stairs, but the view from above made all the effort worth it.

There, some ladies were doing photography wearing local dresses. Live music was playing nearby and the light cold breeze was making the whole atmosphere even more lovely.

9. 🛕 Gozang Monastery – The Most Peaceful Ending of the Day

The last spot of the day was Gozang Monastery. The entry fee here was ₹10. As soon as we entered inside, a deep peace started being felt. The big open square in the middle of the monastery, prayer flags waving in the air, and greenery spread around were making the whole atmosphere very spiritual.

Evening prayers were going on and we also sat there for some time. At that moment, only the sound of prayers and the cold mountain air could be felt there. After the rush of the whole day, this place was slowly calming the mind.

12. ❤️ Some Personal Feelings

In this whole journey, the most beautiful thing was not only the places… but those small moments which slowly became memories on their own during the journey. Somewhere there was the continuous sound of flowing waterfalls, somewhere the cold air coming from the mountains was touching the face, and somewhere hot cardamom tea and masala Maggi removed the tiredness of the whole day in just a moment.

The most special thing about Gangtok felt like this only — here every place does not make you feel like running… instead it makes you feel like stopping and experiencing the moment. Whether it was the peace of the monastery, the colorful atmosphere filled with orchids, or the city visible between the clouds… every scene slowly settled inside the heart.

There were also some moments where we felt like switching off the camera and simply feeling the atmosphere around us. Prayer flags waving in the air, light evening cold, and the silence spread between the mountains… all these things were making this journey not just a trip but a beautiful feeling.

13. 🌙 Emotional Ending

By the time we came out from the last monastery in the evening, it felt like the whole day had slowly settled in the heart like a beautiful story. From the excitement of the morning to the peace of the night… Gangtok made every moment very special.

The cold air here, peaceful roads hidden between the mountains, sound of waterfalls, and the relaxing vibe of the monasteries… everything was something that would stay in memory for a long time. Some places are not only for travelling, they slowly become something you feel deeply inside. Gangtok also felt exactly like that kind of place.

The day had ended… but the feeling of that day was still moving slowly somewhere inside the heart. 🌿✨
