Punjab to Introduce AI-Based Technology for Driving Tests, Announces Transport Minister

AI Test

In a significant move to enhance transparency and curb malpractices, Punjab’s Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar announced the introduction of AI-based HAMS (Harnessing Automobile for Safety) technology in driving tests. This advanced system incorporates features like iris scanning to prevent impersonation and accurately assess applicants’ driving skills. The initiative aims to eliminate the nexus between private agents and officials, ensuring a fair testing process. Additionally, two extra officers will be deployed at each of the state’s 32 driving test tracks to monitor activities. This decision follows recent vigilance raids uncovering widespread corruption in license issuance. The adoption of AI technology is expected to streamline the licensing process and bolster road safety across Punjab – hindustantimes.com
