India’s First On-Board ATM Trial Successful
Indian Railways Introduces First On-Board ATM on Panchavati Express

Indian Railways has successfully conducted a trial of India’s first on-board ATM on the Panchavati Express, operating between Manmad and Mumbai. This innovative initiative, launched in collaboration with the Bank of Maharashtra under the Innovative and Non-Fare Revenue Ideas Scheme (INFRIS), allows passengers to withdraw cash while traveling. The ATM is installed in an air-conditioned coach but is accessible to all passengers through interconnected vestibules. During the trial, minor network issues were observed between Igatpuri and Kasara due to signal limitations. Security measures, including CCTV surveillance and a protective shutter, have been implemented to ensure passenger safety. If the service proves successful, it may be expanded to other routes, enhancing convenience for rail travelers across the country – economictimes.indiatimes.com
