Guwahati to Welcome 11 New Five-Star Hotels, Including Marriott and Taj

Guwahati, the gateway to Northeast India, is poised for a significant transformation in its hospitality landscape. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently announced the development of 11 new five-star hotels, including prestigious brands like Marriott and Taj, marking a substantial boost to the region’s tourism and economy.

Among the upcoming establishments are two Marriott hotels near Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport and two Taj hotels in the Aerocity area. Additionally, the existing Taj Vivanta at Khanapara will be upgraded to a new Taj property, and the Radisson Blu Hotel is expanding with an additional 100 rooms. A Lemon Tree Hotel is also planned along the National Highway, further diversifying the city’s luxury accommodations.

These developments stem from the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit, where Junali Construction Private Limited signed a memorandum to initiate these projects. The strategic locations of these hotels are expected to attract both national and international tourists, especially those interested in destination weddings and exploring nearby attractions like Kaziranga National Park and the Kamakhya Temple.

The influx of luxury hotels is anticipated to create numerous employment opportunities, enhance infrastructure, and position Guwahati as a premier destination for high-end tourism and business travel. This initiative reflects the state’s commitment to fostering economic growth through tourism and investment.

In a related development, business magnate Mukesh Ambani has pledged to establish an Oberoi Hotel in Guwahati, further solidifying the city’s status as a hub for luxury hospitality.

With these ambitious projects underway, Guwahati is set to redefine its hospitality sector, offering world-class amenities and experiences to travelers from around the globe.
