Air India Icelandair Codeshare Boosts India to Europe Connectivity

In a significant move to enhance global connectivity, Air India and Icelandair have officially announced a codeshare agreement that strengthens flight options between India and Iceland, while also expanding Air India’s Europe routes. This partnership opens up new travel possibilities for passengers, especially those traveling between India to Iceland or seeking smooth connections across European destinations.

Seamless Travel from India to Iceland and Beyond

The newly signed agreement will cover 15 routes across India and Europe, aiming to provide travelers with improved access and seamless travel experiences. Icelandair customers can now enjoy extended reach to two major Indian cities—Delhi and Mumbai. Flights operated by Air India from Delhi to Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, and London Heathrow, as well as Mumbai to Frankfurt and London Heathrow, will carry the Icelandair (FI) flight code, making bookings easier and more accessible.

On the other side, Air India passengers can now connect conveniently to Reykjavik, Iceland’s capital, through Icelandair-operated flights departing from key European hubs like London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Milan, Zurich, and Copenhagen. This streamlined access makes traveling to Iceland from India more practical than ever before.

Strategic Partnership for Global Expansion

This Air India Icelandair codeshare agreement was officially announced at the 81st Annual General Meeting of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), held in New Delhi. Campbell Wilson, CEO of Air India, highlighted the partnership as a step toward Air India’s global expansion plans.

Bogi Nils Bogason, CEO of Icelandair, added, “This strategic partnership with Air India marks a significant milestone, opening up exciting new travel opportunities from across our network in North America and Europe to and from India.”

The collaboration reflects both airlines’ long-term vision to improve customer experience and optimize route networks. As regulatory approvals are secured, these codeshare flights will gradually be made available for sale through both carriers’ websites and booking channels.

More Choices, Better Travel Deals

This partnership is more than just a codeshare—it’s a commitment to providing passengers with more travel choices, better coordinated flight schedules, simplified baggage handling, and unified ticketing services. Whether you’re a tourist, a business traveler, or someone planning a trip to experience Iceland’s stunning landscapes, this alliance ensures better Air India travel deals and greater flexibility.

Air India is strategically focused on entering over ten new codeshare agreements within the current financial year. These efforts are designed to strengthen its presence in international markets such as Europe, North America, and Africa. Similarly, Icelandair continues to broaden its reach through strategic alliances with global carriers like Emirates, JetBlue, Finnair, and Turkish Airlines.

A Win for Travelers

For travelers seeking efficient and affordable India to Iceland flights, this partnership comes as a welcome update. It not only enhances Air India Europe routes but also fosters a broader Icelandair India partnership, enabling a new era of air travel between the two nations.

Whether you’re flying from Mumbai to Reykjavik or Delhi to Amsterdam with a stopover in Iceland, your travel experience is about to become smoother, faster, and more enjoyable.
